About Crystal Caves 3D
Crystal Caves 3D is a maze you walk through yourself. Big buttons make it easy: tap WALK and you walk down the tunnel, round its bends, until you reach a place where it splits; tap the arrows to turn left, right or right around. (Older players can switch to free walking with a joystick in the menu.) Glowing crystals are hidden around the cave, many of them in dead ends, and the exit door only opens when you have found them all. Get out quickly for three stars.
With red-green or red-blue 3D glasses the cave is drawn twice, from two eyes a little apart, so the tunnels go deep into the screen and the walls beside you come out of it. It plays in colour without glasses too. The How 3D works page explains stereo vision and perspective, and the How to play page teaches the explorer's trick of keeping one hand on the wall.
There are 12 caves in 3 worlds (Blue, Lava and Ice Caves), from 4 by 4 to 10 by 10, and later caves have loops. Crystals buy an Explorer kit that makes the big caves easier: a brighter torch, a compass that points to the door, a map that draws itself as you explore, and fast boots. A robot explorer walks every cave with the real controls to check that it can be done.
