About College Fund Grove
College Fund Grove is a saving and investing game. A baby is born and college is 18 years away. Every turn is one year: some money comes in from birthdays, gifts and what the family can spare, and you choose how much goes into the college fund and how much is spent on fun things for the toy shelf. The fund is a tree that grows fruit as your money grows, and the goal is to have enough by age 18.
Eight chapters each teach one big idea with real numbers: compound interest in a savings account, why starting early matters so much, staying calm and invested when the stock market crashes, how a 2% fee quietly eats a big slice of your money, moving to safer investments as college gets close, inflation making college cost more each year, and free matching money from grandparents. The last chapter puts everything together.
Reaching the goal earns a star, and having lots of fun along the way earns more: the best savers put more in when the child is little and enjoy more later, because early money has longer to grow. At the end of every chapter a chart shows your fund against a what-if, such as a piggy bank, selling in the crash, the fancy high-fee fund or keeping everything in stocks, plus a money wisdom card to keep. It uses pretend money and simple made-up markets.
