About Time Traveller's Suitcase
Time Traveller's Suitcase is a history game about inventions. Each trip goes to a moment in the past, such as the Vikings in the year 900. Twelve things sit in front of you, from bread and bows to light bulbs, aeroplanes and smartphones, and you pack only the ones that had already been invented by then. Press Travel to check: everything you got wrong shows the year it was invented and a fact about it, so every mistake teaches something.
There are eight trips in time order: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, the Vikings, the Middle Ages, Tudor times, Victorian times, the Moon landing in 1969 and the 1980s. The puzzles get trickier because the game picks inventions from just before and just after each trip, such as glasses (around 1290) for the Middle Ages or the telephone (1876) for the Victorians. No mistakes earns three stars and every trip stamps your time passport.
The dates are rounded, well-known ones, and a checking script makes sure no invention is ever so close to a trip's year that the answer would be a quibble, that every trip mixes things already invented with things still to come, and that a perfect suitcase always scores perfectly.
