About Staff Stars
Staff Stars teaches children to read music. A note appears on the staff and slides towards the clef; tap the piano key with the same letter before it gets there and you hear it play. A wrong key or a note that arrives first shows the right answer and plays it, so every mistake is a small lesson.
Ten lessons build up the way music teachers do: the treble clef lines E, G and B, then the spaces that spell FACE, all five lines (Every Good Boy Does Fine), lines and spaces together, middle C and the ledger lines below the staff, the high notes above it, then the bass clef lines (Good Boys Do Fine Always) and spaces (All Cows Eat Grass), and finally a grand staff that mixes both clefs. Each lesson has a memory trick, and the notes come a little faster as you go.
Read 95% of the notes right for three stars; stars unlock new sounds: a music box, a guitar and a flute. You can tap the on-screen piano or use the letter keys on a keyboard. A checking script tests every note against real music theory: the mnemonics, middle C on both staves and the true pitch of every note.
