About Quilt Fixer
Quilt Fixer is a pattern puzzle inspired by patchwork quilts. Every square is split corner to corner into two triangles of fabric, the classic half-square triangle that quilters use, and by turning the squares different ways you can make stripes, checkerboards, pinwheels, zigzags and diamonds. But someone has turned some of the squares the wrong way, and the pattern is broken.
Look at the squares that are still right to work out the pattern that repeats across the quilt, then tap the ones that break it. Each tap turns a square a quarter turn, so it pays to think about how many turns each square needs. The puzzles are made so the right pattern can always be worked out for sure: in every spot of the repeat, more squares are right than wrong. A hint shows one wrong square, at a cost.
Eight quilts grow from a 4 by 4 sunny stripe quilt to 8 by 8 quilts with big diamonds and Grandma's star, where the pattern only repeats every four squares. Fixing a quilt in the fewest taps earns three stars, finished quilts hang in your gallery, and stars unlock new fabric colours from ocean blue to rainbow. It builds pattern spotting, rotation and an eye for design.
