About Postcard Fixer
Postcard Fixer combines typing practice with the rules of written English. The post office machine has eaten all the capital letters and punctuation, so each message arrives in plain lower case, like my friend is called mia. You type it out properly on the postcard, using the Shift key for capitals and punctuation marks, and post it.
Each lesson adds one rule: capitals and full stops, names and the word I, question marks, choosing between telling, asking and exciting sentences with an emoji clue, commas in lists, apostrophes for missing letters and belonging, and speech marks around spoken words. If something is wrong, the game highlights the first mistake and explains the rule, such as Paris is a name, so it needs a capital letter.
The checker accepts both list styles (with or without a comma before and) and the curly quotes that phone keyboards type, and extra buttons add punctuation on touch screens. Two or more stars in a lesson add a stamp from a different city to your stamp album.
