About Phonics Pond
Phonics Pond is a learn-to-read game. Each picture shows a word with a sound missing: look at the picture, say the word out loud (or tap to hear it), and tap the sound that fills the gap. Every right answer helps the frog hop to the next lily pad.
There are four ponds. Short Sounds practises the vowels a, e, i, o and u in words like cat and bed. Sound Pairs has two letters that make one sound: sh, ch, th, wh, ck and ng. Blends puts two sounds side by side, as in frog and star, and Vowel Teams covers ai, ee, oa, igh and oo.
Later levels ask you to pick the right word for a picture, or to build a whole word sound by sound. Each level you finish brings a new friend to your pond. Your progress is saved on this device.
