About Number Row Rockets
Number Row Rockets teaches touch typing on the number keys, the row above the letters that many children never learn properly. Meteors with numbers fall towards the ground, and typing a number zaps that meteor with a laser. In the first missions the right key glows and a message names the finger, such as left pointer finger, reaching up from F.
The missions add the keys in the classic order: pointer fingers on 4, 5, 6 and 7, then middle fingers on 3 and 8, ring fingers on 2 and 9, and little fingers on 1 and 0. Then the challenge grows: two- and three-digit numbers, adding and taking away up to 20, and the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times tables, so maths facts and typing speed improve together.
A meteor fires the moment its answer is typed, with no Enter key, and the game never puts two meteors on screen whose answers could be confused. Three meteors may land before the mission fails. Stop every meteor with almost no wrong keys for three stars, and stars unlock new launchers like a flying saucer, a space cat and a dragon. Meteor speeds were tuned by simulating slow, average and quick typists.
