About Memory Palace
Memory Palace teaches a real memory technique, the method of loci, used by memory champions and by speakers in ancient Greece and Rome. You imagine a walk you know well, here a house with a front garden, hallway, kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom, and at each place along the walk you picture one thing doing something silly, like a giant banana dancing on the front door.
The first lesson is a test with no palace: things flash up one at a time and you try to remember them in order. Then you learn the palace and see the difference, and the game shows your best score with and without it. Choosing the silly action yourself, and seeing it move, makes each picture easier to remember.
Lessons grow from 8 to 24 things as new rooms open in your palace. You also learn the palace's superpowers: walking it backwards, and jumping straight to a mystery place, like what was on the piano. Remember every thing for three stars. It is a skill children can use for shopping lists, spelling and revision.
