About Key Beat
Key Beat teaches typing the way a drummer learns: steadily, in time. Letters slide towards a yellow line while a drum keeps the beat, and you press each key just as it arrives. Right on the beat is Perfect, a little early or late is Good, and every key you hit plays a note, so good typing turns into a little tune.
The ten lessons follow a real touch-typing course: F and J first, the keys with the little bumps, then the rest of the home row, then G and H, E and I, R and U, T and Y, words with the space bar, and finally whole sentences, each lesson a little faster. The keyboard on the screen is coloured by finger and the next key glows, so you learn which finger presses each key without looking.
Play with a real keyboard, or tap the keyboard on a phone or tablet screen. Score 92% or more for three stars. Notes you earn unlock new sounds for your typing: marimba, steel drum, synth and robot. Steady rhythm is what makes fast typists accurate, and here it is also what makes the music.
