About Chime Garden 3D
Chime Garden 3D teaches real songs by ear. Eight bells stand in a garden, one for each note of the scale from low Do to high Do, coloured like a rainbow and stepping up from left to right. The bells play a short bit of a song while they light up; then it is your turn to tap the same bells in the same order. Each bit is just 3 to 8 notes, so even young children can follow along.
There are eight songs, all old folk tunes: Hot Cross Buns, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Row Row Row Your Boat, London Bridge, Frère Jacques, Ode to Joy and Jingle Bells. In the first two songs the next bell glows to help. A wrong bell is no problem: the bit plays again and you have another go. When you finish every bit you hear the whole song. Stars unlock new songs and new bell sounds (music box, marimba, space), and Free play lets children make up their own tunes. Switch the labels between Do Re Mi and C D E.
With red-green, red-blue or red-cyan 3D glasses, the bells curve round you: the ends float out of the screen and the middle ones sit further back. It plays in colour without them. A checking script compares every song with the well-known melody note for note.
