About Bug Hunt Robot
Bug Hunt Robot teaches debugging, one of the most important skills in programming. A garden robot has to water every flower and finish on its charger, and its program is almost right, but one line is wrong. Press Run and the robot follows the code one line at a time, with the line it is doing lit up in blue, so you can see exactly where it goes off course or drives off the edge.
To fix the code, tap a line: a move changes between forward, turn left and turn right, and a repeat loop's number counts up. Then run it again. The commands are simple, and turning doesn't move the robot, so you have to think from the robot's point of view, just like real code. Fixing it on your first run after a change earns three stars.
Eight gardens start with a few plain moves, then bring in repeat loops, staircase patterns made of loops, two loops in one program, and finally a garden with two bugs to find. Stars unlock new robots, from a turtle and a ladybug to a rocket and a unicorn. It builds logical thinking, careful reading of code, and the habit of testing and fixing.
