About Bridge Builder
Bridge Builder is an engineering game. Each level is a gap between two cliffs. Pick a material, tap two dots to put a beam between them, and build a road all the way across. Then press DRIVE and a car, truck, bus or fire engine drives over. As it crosses, every beam turns from green to yellow to red as it gets closer to breaking. If one breaks, the vehicle ends up in the river.
The game uses real structural maths: for every step of the drive it works out how hard each beam is being stretched or squashed, the way engineers check real bridges. That teaches the big ideas. A road on its own folds up, a square frame squashes flat, but triangles stay stiff. Long thin beams buckle sooner when they are squashed. Ropes are cheap and strong when they pull, but they go floppy when they are pushed, which is why suspension bridges hang the road from tall towers.
There are 20 bridges in 4 worlds: wooden bridges, steel and trucks, rope bridges and big jobs with pillars and monster trucks. Every level has a budget. Crossing under budget earns a star, and building cheaper earns more, up to three. A robot engineer designed a lean example bridge for every level to set the star prices, and you can peek at it for a hint, but that costs a star.
